Should You Cast Spells On or For Others?
If you are public about your magickal practice, you may have been asked if you perform spells on or for others. Like performing love or money spells to removing hexes/negative energies. Or perhaps you were talking to a friend who's having a hard time finding a date or a new job and you thought maybe you could help out. But should you?
This is a decision that every practitioner of magick will have to answer for themselves. There is no one universally correct answer, and you may decide that it even varies on a case-by-case basis. Below are 3 questions to ask yourself. These will help you consider some aspects of what you are and are not comfortable with on the subject of magick on/for others.
Are You O.K. with influencing the energy of others?
One way to answer this may be to ask yourself if you'd be happy with others casting spells that could influence or effect you. It might depend on the person and/or the spell! You might be comfortable with protection spells but don't want to get involved in their love affairs.
Do you need permission to cast spells on others?
Many are of the belief that it is good practice to ask for permission before casting any spells on or for other people. Some think that without this consent, you could be invading their energies and personal space. Another thing to consider is that the person may have their own protection spells or energetic shields up around their personal space bubble and may not receive that spell energy unless they know to be receptive of it.
Do you have and want to spend the time and use your energy to do spells for others?
Maybe it depends on the person, or on the spell. You might decide to say no performing a luck spell for an acquaintance but say yes to a healing spell when asked by a friend. Or you'll decide that your goal is to help out as many as you feasibly can. Some have even managed to make spell-casting for others a lucrative job!
You might choose to use your time to teach them to perform their own spell. That way they can have reigns to perform it the way they want it to using their own energy - and not yours!
It all depends on how much time and energy you have and are willing to spend on others. And specifically who, if any, those others are.
You may feel comfortable placing a protection spell on someone, but not want to interfere with their career or love life. You may be absolutely okay with any and all forms of spells on and for others. Or you could decide that you don't want to meddle with the energies of others. All of these options are valid. Regardless of what you decide is best for you, please also be mindful and respectful differing decisions of others. This includes other magickal practitioners or friends who have asked not to have spells cast on or for them.
